Many years ago, I set many U.S.A. and California records as a power lifter in both the Women's, Juniors and age group categories. Needless to say, I was very big. However, I knew that to be a better thrower, I would have to lose that weight and ,eventually, I would need to lose a lot more as I reintegrated myself back into the workplace.

For those of you who have followed my career since I was 14, you have commented on my weight loss from that period of my life. In fact, I am over 100 lbs lighter than I was at 15. However, although there are plenty of throwers bigger than I am, I am still a big girl.

This summer and fall, I have planned to drop 30 - 50 more pounds and ,if you are interested, you can follow my successes and challenges on these pages! I have taken my diet strategy from my folks and an exercise conditioning program that was partly given to me by a jumper!

My Diet !

Basically, there is no secret to dieting, you must take in less than you expend. The trick is to do it in a way in which you lose weight and body fat.  Dieting doesn't have to be painful, but it has to work or you'll become overly discouraged and binge. It is also important to have a diet that you can maintain forever, or you'll just gain everything back.

So my diet is high in vegetables and low in fat. I manage my proteins but pay little attention to carbohydrates in general. This is a diet I can and have lived with!

The Exercise Regime!

Obviously, if you are going to lose body fat and weight, it is important to change what you are currently doing and make it more rigorous! There is no way one can go out for two or three long walks a day in the hot and humid Florida sun without dropping pounds like a rock! This is my base. From this point I add stair climbing, bicycle and stair master! This is in addition to my regular workout!
