Hey, You’ve Got K-Mail!

5 NCAA Automatic Qualifiers! Karen (shot), Jukina (weight), Kim (weight), 'Quanda (weight) and Erin (weight)...who will be next??

Welcome to our Email Newsletter!  Your ideas are important to us.  If you have any comments or suggestions for future newsletters, please email me.

This edition of K-Mail covers the results of the Florida Intercollegiate, held at our own outdoor weight facility and our indoor track at O'Connell Center.

The Lady Gators got a big boost before the meet from the first Trackwire rankings of the 2003 indoor season.  The Lady Gators were projected to tie for 3rd in the NCAA!  Trackwire included 6 Lady Gator throwers in their shot and weight Dandy Dozen.

We threw the weight outdoors, and the Lady Gators took places 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9, with Lady Gator redshirt Jyn Wynn taking 10th.  I actually PRed in the weight, going from 50'10" in my first meet (yikes) to a more respectable 57'3" yesterday.  I'm still doing 2 turns instead of 3, so at least we're heading in the right direction.

Jukina won at 68'8.5," which is also the #1 mark in the NCAA so far this year!  We had 2 new NCAA automatic qualifiers--Kim threw a big PR of 66'4.25" and Quanda threw 64'11.5".  You go, girls!

In the shot, the Lady Gators were also pretty dominant, taking places 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 11, and 12.  I won the shot with a new PR of 54'1" and fouled some interesting ones, too!  The 54'1" is an automatic qualifier, so Florida now has 5 throwers automatically qualified in the throwing events.  Considering that maybe 15 people or so get to go in each event, and some of our girls will probably go in both, that's a lot of orange and blue in Fayetteville!

Jyn and I smile for the camera after the weight throw.

Scarlett gets ready to throw in the weight.

More Pictures to follow!...soooon!

Next Up!

The Lady Gators will be in action at the SEC Eastern Division meet in Kentucky on January 25th!  I'm sitting that one out....well, maybe not sitting, but working through.  Stay tuned!

And let us know if you have any suggestions for the newsletter!  Bye for now!!  J  Thanks for supporting the Florida Throwers!
