I am very honored by my selection as the 2004 Engineer Platoon leader of the Year!
I have noticed that the higher the award... the more people contributed to make it happen. Consequently, to be recognized with this award required the support and effort of many of my comrades. I did not do this alone.
Allow me to thank my platoon sergeants, SFC's Ford, LaClair, Thompson and Tupua. I would also be remiss not to mention COL Christopher J. Toomey, under whose leadership I found myself in both the 864th and the 14th Combat Engineer Battalions. I also came into contact with many soldiers who were instrumental in helping all of us reach our objectives ... and as we say... "be all we can be". I would like to thank MAJ's Eisenhower and Adams, for giving me the kick...ah...motivation I need to give my best effort. Lastly, my Uncle LTC James Anderson -- also an engineer -- is serving in Afghanistan and his support has been invaluable to me.

The Grizzly to me stands for more than
past accomplishment.
